Topeka has had talent and energy for a long time, but there hasn’t always been a steady place for that to live. 6th & Polk grew out of the work of people that were already doing, to keep shows going. Black Chamber DIY was putting on all-ages punk, rap, and experimental shows wherever there was a room and a PA. Sound Peak Studios was recording many of those same artists and helping them shape their sound. After years of moving between basements, back rooms, and borrowed spaces, Preston Walker and Chad Coleman decided it made sense to build one space that could hold all of that. 6th & Polk is that space.
